Ain’t No More Solitude with Hira’s New Single “Chelsea”
Hira, formerly known as a one-man band hailing from Jatinangor no longer spends his days in solitude. Founded by Hadi Muhammad, Hira has recruited two more members onto their team and reveals a new single called “Chelsea”. Taking cues from the music on their first album, “Chelsea” is a derivative from their “Solitude” days but with a different twist. It still bears the same melancholy feelings found on the album. Dream pop and lo-fi influence can still be heard on this record, further proving Hira’s consistency in this particular genre. The twist lays on the fuller sounding sounds that we suspect comes from the addition of a bassist and a guitarist which are Akhyar Rasyidi and Indra Werdana respectively. The combination of reverb-filled guitars, low-thumping bass, and Hadi’s seemingly flat vocalization creates a formula for Hira that seems to be effective. This song is often played by the band live, so it only befits that the release is accompanied by something new like a music video.
Produced by themselves, the video tries to interpret the feeling of loss that the song wants to convey. They involved Ilham Ismail as the lead actor on this video that can be seen wandering around the town. “The main character on this video feels like losing someone. He tries to forget that feeling by wandering around, but it doesn’t work,” explained Hadi. The song was inspired by Hadi’s personal experience of losing a friend due to a traffic accident. You can also see the band’s new formation as the trio also star on the video by playing their own instrument. The release of “Chelsea” is Hira’s preparation towards their first full-length album which is planned to be out in 2019. If you expect to have another “Solitude”, then we got some bad news because Hira said that they will create a whole new sound on their upcoming record. However, they will still publish their works under Mundane Records that also published the band’s first EP two years ago. Enjoy “Chelsea” in its fullest here…
