Scottish Legends, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Will Hold Concerts in Indonesia! — Presented by Noisewhore, Black Sand Brewery and Junks Radio
The birth of shoegaze was largely contributed by the appearance of Scottish duo, The Jesus and Mary Chain in the music industry. These musicians who are often considered the inspiration and muse of so many talented individuals who came after them, will reportedly hold two concerts in the archipelago. The band will perform in Bali on November 26, 2026, before making their way to Jakarta on November 27, 2026.
The band made their break into the general public’s radar after their hit “Just Like Honey” was included in various movie soundtracks in early 2000 like “Lost in Translation”, “Zack and Miri Make a Porno”, “The Man Who Loved Yngve”, and many more. The Jesus and Mary Chain was founded by brothers Jim Reid and William Reid in East Kilbride, Scotland. Drawing inspiration from artists as diverse as The Velvet Underground, Einstürzende Neubauten, and The Shangri-Las, they arrived at a sound that felt entirely their own: irresistible pop melodies buried beneath walls of guitar feedback and distortion.
For music fans in Indonesia, this is more than just another international concert—it’s a rare chance to finally experience a band that has spent decades being discovered through records, vinyl collections, and streaming playlists. Despite a career spanning more than 40 years, The Jesus and Mary Chain have never performed in Indonesia—until now. Bringing the band here has long been a dream project for Black Sand Brewery, one that always felt ambitious, rare, and worth pursuing.
The journey to make it happen began more than two years ago. What started as an idea has now grown into a two-city tour through a collaboration with Junks and noisewhore in Jakarta. Together, the three independent promoters share a common goal: to deliver a landmark show for Indonesia’s alternative music community. The early bird tickets which costs IDR600K for those two stops have reportedly been sold out. The general sale which cost IDR850K will start soon on whoisjamc.com , so keep your eyes peeled to social medias of @noisewhore @junksradio and @blacksandbrewery.
