Salihara Goes Digital with Musim Seni Salihara “Adapt and Play”

JAKARTA – As our country battles an endless fight with Covid-19, Komunitas Salihara finds a new way to keep the art alive during this challenging time. Having been held for seven years in a row, SIPFest has now evolved into a digital/online format and it is called Musim Seni Salihara with its official tagline “Adapt and Play”. During its installation which will happen, starting from tomorrow, September 12th up to October 10th, 2020, there will be live performances of dance, theatrical show, music, art, and many more. Do not mistake Musim Seni Salihara as a replacement for SIPFest, as it is a completely new program that happens in a digital platform. This virtual adaptation of SIPFest will remain as a platform for artists to showcase their latest works as well as a new way to cope with the latest development of technology. Not only live performances, there will also be discussions regarding art performances in the current pandemic and more.

Renown performance artist, Melati Suryodarmo, will convert her lecture-performance about Nusantara’s history of dance to become a fully digital show that you can learn and enjoy from the comfort of your own home. Muhammad Khan, the acclaimed rising actor will team up with Putri Ayudya to read the masterpieces from Indonesia’s finest litterateur like Sapardi Djoko Damono and Subagio Sastrowardoyo. From the lane of music, there will be three young composers who will present their contemporary works, they are Gatot Danar Sulistyanto, Gema Swaratyagita, and Nursalim Yadi Anugerah. Ayu Permata, Eyi Lesar, and Riyo Tulus Pernando will captivate you with their choreographies and dances. 

Missing a theatrical play? Jim Adhi Limas will present his take on Roland Dubillard (1923-2011). Dubillard was known as a writer whose works have been constantly adapted and presented as a play throughout France. One of his works called “Les Diablogues” (1975) is filled with absurd short sketches and dark satires.
