Ubud Food Festival 2019 Introduces “Spice Up The World” As The Upcoming Theme
UBUD – The festivity of this year’s Ubud Food Festival still lingers in our minds, but Yayasan Saraswati as the organizer has started to prepare its next installment. The theme for Ubud Food Festival 2019 is “Spice Up The World”, marking the festival fifth edition that explores the nation’s diverse cuisines and exciting gastronomic scene. This notion stems from the concern of the lack knowledge Indonesian cuisine get on the worldwide level, compared to fellow Southeast Asian cuisine like Thai or Vietnamese. Slowly but sure, a wind of change has blown on our favor. Indonesian cuisine starts to get recognition starting from food truck opening from Melbourne to Manhattan. In our country, top chefs and restaurants do their best to elevate traditional dishes to world-class standards. This sparks a question on how to elevate local humble dishes to go global.
Ubud Food Festival puts this specific topic into their main focus next year by inviting prominent guest speakers who have done years of practice in bringing local cuisine to world spotlight. UFF 2019 will also share individual success stories, and local heroes who succeed in elevating Indonesian food to new heights, as well as breaking down boundaries to foreign exposure. “Since our inaugural year, sharing Indonesia’s extraordinary cuisines and fascinating culinary cultures has been at the heart of the Ubud Food Festival,” commented UFF Founder & Director Janet DeNeefe. “We know Indonesian food isn’t as well-known overseas as the cuisines of its Southeast Asian cousins, but this won’t be for long! This year, UFF 2018 explored the theme of “Inovasi Cita Rasa Nusantara” in partnership with ABC, a prominent Indonesian brand that brings high-quality sauce and seasonings.
