Ubud Food Festival Attracted Its Biggest Crowd Yet on 2018 Edition
UBUD – It seems like the enthusiasm for annual culinary festival held by Yayasan Saraswati, Ubud Food Festival was all-time high during its celebration this year. Attracting 12,000 crown in its 4-day affair, it was the highest record for the number of visitors for this event. Located at the heart of Ubud at Taman Kuliner , thousands of culinary enthusiasts have gathered up for few numbers of programs since its first day. Ubud Food Festival 2018 presented by ABC did not only attract domestic food lovers, as it also managed to gather foreigners as well. Myriad posters, signage, or posters to promote this event was scattered throughout Bali to further attract visitors and the strategy worked out pretty well. Over 95 food and beverages tenants served their best and signature dishes for the crowd enjoy. A plethora of food ranging from Indonesian traditional cuisine, to Western, Asian, cuisine pleased the tastebuds of food adventurers there from 12 – 15 April 2018.
Other than the food stalls, more than a hundred programs were prepared with more than a hundred speakers who enlightened the visitors with their knowledge, tips or expertise on food, F&B business, and many more. The support from ABC as one of the most trusted F&B brand in Indonesia also added more value to Ubud Food Festival 2018 by providing interactive activities in order to introduce the archipelago’s finest culinary. “The support from ABC made us very excited. ABC is a brand that we all know, love and the brand that I’ve used in my own kitchen and restaurant for over a decade. The similar vision and mission between UFF and ABC made this collaboration even more perfect,” uttered Janet DeNeefe, the Founder & Director UFF. With the theme ‘Inovasi Cita Rasa Nusantara’, both UFF 2018 and ABC aimed to give more knowledge to the visitors on how to improve the current culinary heritage of Indonesia with new innovation.
A whopping 30% increase of visitors made UFF‘s programs like cooking demo on Kitchen Stage and Teater Kuliner, discussion panel on Food for Thought, Masterclass and Special Events, as well as film screenings and music performances were packed with people. Lifetime Achievement Award was given to culinary journalist, Bondan Winarno who has passed away last year. His daughter were present during the Opening Night to receive the award on his behalf and she was very thankful for those who remembered her father’s legacy in Indonesia’s culinary world. In conjunction with the festivities, Ubud was also appointed as UNWTO Gastronomy Destination Prototype by the Indonesia’s Ministry of Tourism through the program ‘Wonderful Indonesia’. The four-day celebration seemed to accommodate the culinary enthusiasts in Bali well and we hope to see even larger crowd and more exciting program next year.
