Ben & Jody, The Sequel of Filosofi Kopi Starts Production
As reported earlier, Visinema Pictures have finalized their plan to make a sequel for their highly successful movie, Filosofi Kopi that was released in 2015 called Ben & Jody. The highly anticipated predecessor film has begun shooting yesterday, January 5th 2017 in Jakarta. During the press conference held at Filosofi Kopi Coffee Shop at Melawai, Jakarta that was attended by Ben & Jody’s main casts, director, producers, and scriptwriter, they explain about the upcoming movie as well as the general idea about how it’s going to be like. The official title of the movie will be “Filosofi Kopi: Ben & Jody” with Angga Dwimas Sasongko appointed as the director, he will once again collaborate with Anggia Kharisma, Chicco Jerikho and Handoko Hendroyono as the producers. This time, Rio Dewanto will also take part in the production team of the film.
The idea for the sequel was originated from the script writing competition titled #NgeracikCerita that was held in 2016. Jenny Jusuf, who was previously in charge to write the script for Filosofi Kopi the movie, with M. Irfan Ramli have joined forces to develop the winning story of the contest and adapt it for the screenplay. As for the scenario, the original author of the novel Filosofi Kopi, Dewi ‘Dee’ Lestari will act as a consultant along with Angga Dwimas Sasongko. Christian Armantyo and Frischa Aswarini, whose story has been chosen as the winner also got a chance to join the ‘big reading’ which was held back in December 2016 with the whole cast and crew of Filosofi Kopi: Ben & Jody.
Besides Chicco Jerikho and Rio Dewanto who play their recurring roles as Ben and Jody, there are also two actresses who were announced as the lead casts of the movie. Luna Maya, who made a name for herself after her award-winning role in “Ruang” will play a new character named Tarra, a businesswoman. Meanwhile, Nadine Alexandra who has starred in several movies like “Slank Nggak Ada Matinya”(2013) and “Bukaan 8” (2017) will play another new character named Brie, a barista from Melbourne, Australia. The movie’s shoot will take place in several locations in Indonesia namely Jakarta, Bali, Yogyakarta, Makassar, and Toraja. Angga, as the director and producer also added, “We’ve just entered the third day (of the shooting), there is 20 days left to go. Wish us luck so the process went smooth and produced good result.” Well, we can’t wait for the movie premiere that is scheduled on June 2017.
