Status Quo which derived from latin terms ‘status quo ante bellum’, is often understood as the state or situation before war. However, in the minds of Fine Art students in their sophomore year from Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Status Quo is interpreted as “the current state of things”. Allowing themselves to give meanings to this theme, these artists make use of wood and linoleum as the media of their graphic art. The exhibition will show the understandings of each participants to interpret the theme either personally, socially or politically. Not only acts as the medium to explain the happening situation in the world, the exhibition also aims to introduce graphic art to the public.

The process of making graphic art which takes a long time opens many possibilities for the artists to create their masterpieces. The selected artworks are then displayed on the exhibition based on the close correlation with the theme and reality of our nation. The limited available colors that are used in the printed graphic become the characteristic of the artworks and it is paired with wood engravings will present unique results.
The exhibition will commence on December 9th, 2016 at Titik Temu Space, Bandung. Two days later on December 11th, there will be a discussion with the artists about their creations.
