Japanese Film Festival (JFF) Returns For The Second Time in Indonesia
Japanese Film Festival (JFF) is back for its second installment in Indonesia from November 24th to 27th, 2016 at fX Sudirman, Jakarta. It was held for the first time last year in 2015 by Agency for Cultural Affairs of Japan in cooperation with Embassy of Japan in Indonesia, Japan Foundation and Japan Image Council. JFF is a platform for Japanese movies which aim to increase the enthusiasm for Japanese films and attract a wide scope of audience in Southeast Asian countries. What makes this year’s celebration different from the last one is JFF Indonesia belongs under JFF Asia Pacific Gateway, that was initiated by Japan Foundation. The event will be held in 10 Southeast Asian countries and Australia. Fourteen titles have been confirmed to be screened during JFF, and those Japanese films were released in the span of 2015 to 2016, so basically they are pretty recent.
The films range in terms of genre, starting from comedy, drama, documentary, fantasy, thriller and romance. The selection includes animated film, which Japan is known for its excellence in the advanced animation technique. This time, JFF Indonesia also invite Indonesian actress, Chelsea Islan, to be the ambassador of JFF Indonesia. Her involvement in Indonesian movie scene and her role in a Film Television (FTV) “When You Wish Upon Sakura”, which was a collaboration project between Indonesia and Japan, were the reason behind the appointment. There will also be a Japanese guest star, Shuhei Nomura, the actor of “Chihayafuru Part 1 and 2” on November 24th to add more excitement to the event. Audience will also get a chance to win some special prices during JFF 2016 with terms and conditions below
- Audience has the right to get JFF stamp by showing their purchased film ticket to the JFF info desk at the 7th Floor of fX Sudirman Mall. Audience who collect 5 (five) JFF stamps, will get a merchandise from JFF.
- For the audience who fill in the form and write a synopsis of the JFF film they watch, on an online platform, will have a chance to win a trip to Japan and attend Tokyo International Film Festival 2017 in Japan.
Furthermore, JFF is hoped to bridge and unite Japanese film with the fans in Indonesia by holding various activities that are related to movies and also Japanese culture in general. Besides film screenings, there will also be Japan Fun Day Show which will be held on November 26th as the side event of the festival. Japanese Film Festival will also be held in Yogyakarta in a collaboration with Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival (JAFF) which will be held from November 28th to Desember 3rd 2016. Daily entrance for each film during JFF will cost 20,000 Rupiahs, and it can be bought on the tix counter at Cinemaxx fX Sudirman, Cinemaxx mobile application or Cinemaxx website.
