ZALORA “The Urbanist” : A Cutting Edge Ready-to-wear Fashion for Urban Citizens

Living in a metropolitan city means a great deal of stress, either it’s from work, traffic, or even social lifestyle. It requires us to be prepared 24/7 and our choice of fashion should not add another stressful note in our life. ZALORA as a leading online fashion destination in Asia in collaboration with three Indonesian designers are joining forces to tackle the aforementioned problem of urban citizens with “The Urbanist”. Sejauh Mata Memandang, I.K.Y.K, and Danjyo Hyoji as fashion labels work closely with ZALORA to bring an exclusive collection that has the versatility to be worn in any occasion. Jakarta Fashion Week 2017 is chosen as the platform to show the collection as it is the biggest fashion week in Southeast Asia which has managed to open the door for local designers to enter the international fashion market.

Danjyo Hiyoji, which was launched in 2009 by Dana Maulana and Liza Masitha brought out a collection to fulfill the needs of those who want to look unique and different than the uniformed rest. They apply asymmetrical cutting and combination of various color palette to display a collection that are both edgy and also fun. The models could also be seen sporting unique make up with details on the eyes and sun hats. Danjyo Hyoji provide one of a kind ready-to-wear collection for both male and female urbanists.

Unlike Danjyo Hiyoji, I.K.Y.K (I Know You Know), a ready-to-wear fashion label created by Anandia Putri utilizes modern cutting inspired by design and technique from Indonesia, Japan and Korea. They used warm and earthy tones, with different shades of red, gray, brown, and black to pull out strong and powerful image without having to lose the feminine side of a woman. The clothes are loose yet retain some distinctive shape with the colors that Anandia Putri hopes to inspire women to diminish their worries and discomfort, and at the same time could build a motivation to take over the world. The models could be seen wearing bold make up with a sporty touch on their footwear.

Zalora The Urbanist

Sejauh Mata Memandang incorporated traditional Indonesian technique and design with their love of patterns. The label which was established by Chitra Subijakto worked together with artists from Sumba, Bali, and Java to produce this collection. It was inspired by trees, flowers, fruits that is sculpted on Borobudur Temple’s walls. The design is timeless and simple yet it could ooze out the beauty within those who wear them. Yellow, white, and green are the main color of choice for this collection. One unique feature for this ZALORA fashion show was it is deemed as shoppable show, which means ZALORA customers could directly buy the collection from the runway as soon as it’s over through ZALORA.
