Lucien Sunmoon Reveal Youthful Single “Memoria” as Its 5th Release
[MALANG] Malang has never had a shortage of talented musicians, and after the great birth of dream pop unit Girl and Her Bad Mood, you could meet its newer and younger equivalent called Lucien Sunmoon. Assisted in their early career by GAHBM‘s member Danang Seloaji, the band has now started to make a mark of their own in music producing as they revealed their fifth single “Memoria”. The cheerful new song was written by Kanaya as an homage to her best friend named Wulan. As their friendship grew stronger over the years, great memories could only be cherished with smile as stated on the single’s lyrics. Lucien Sunmoon was heavily inspired by two fellow musicians which are SPITZ and Beeswax on this single. “There’s this song called ‘Robinson’ by SPITZ that helped us to build the song’s overall ambiance and mood. While our guitarist, Nael created an outro that was inspired by his favorite band, Beeswax,” the band elaborated.
As their first ever single written in Indonesian, they tried to keep it simple and easy to digest by the listeners. To match the theme, a visual artwork depicting a group of friends playing at the beach during the sunset captured the song’s youthful spirit. Listening to Lucien Sunmoon feels like watching a non-complicated coming of age movies when young adults encounter romance, friendship, hardships and many more. Using their personal experience as a source of songwriting has become the band’s strong points as they create a relatable experience for those who listen to their songs. Yessy (gitar), Natanael (gitar), Nasywa (keyboard), Lyra (drum), Mundir (bass) and Kanaya (vokal) said that they have their own ways of creating ‘memoria’ of their loved ones whether it’s writing, storing virtual chats between loved ones, creating photos and videos collage, as well as printing photographs of important moments. Whatever ways you want to remember your cherished persons, the band hoped that “Memoria” could be the song that could accompany those moments. The single is out on various digital streaming platforms.
