Bon Iver Donates Proceeds from An Auction to Combat Harassment
Can Justin Vernon be even more perfect? The answer is yes, he can. The musician who is also known as the frontman of the band Bon Iver has just announced an initiative that is a part of their 2 A Billion project to his Asia tour, their Jakarta’s concert to be particular. 2 A Billion is a campaign created by Bon Iver to raise support, awareness, and person-to-person connections in an effort to end gender inequality, domestic violence, and sexual abuse. In 2019, over $185,000 was donated to 2AB Charitable partners through this initiative. Collaborating with a local collective called Hollaback! Jakarta who is compiled of people who have experienced unsettling experiences of street harassment, Bon Iver auctions a bundling package that is comprised oh a signed “i,i” album, signed Asia tour poster, a ticket to Bon Iver’s show in Jakarta, as well as a t-shirt. The package is currently being auctioned through 2 AB’s official website. As we are writing this article, the current fan package bid is set on $175 USD which equals to IDR2,407,700.
“One of the biggest problems with domestic abuse is that people don’t talk about it. It’s insidious, stigmatized and hushed,” stated Justin Vernon about the 2AB initiative. Sadly this phenomenon of sexual harassment and domestic violence is global, so it is only right that Bon Iver brings the project worldwide along with his ongoing tour. Besides Jakarta, the 2AB initiative is also held in Bon Iver’s tour stop in Singapore and Japan. If you happen to support this cause and also want to experience the live concert of Bon Iver, head to http://2abillion.org/auction/ to place your bid. His concert in Jakarta will take place on January 19th, 2020 at Tennis Indoor Senayan. It is brought to you by no other than, Ismaya Live, who has experienced in bringing world-class festivals like We The Fest and Djakarta Warehouse Project.
