Oscar-Winning Movies Open The Road to European on Screen 2019
JAKARTA (3/16) – A month prior to Europe On Screen‘s celebration in 2019, a series of Oscar-winning movies directed by talented European filmmakers warmed us up before the main celebration begins. A string of film screenings titled “Road to Europe On Screen 2019” was held starting from March 1oth until 29th on various venues across Jakarta. Some of the titles that will be screened on this series have already been shown on previous Europe On Screen’s editions. The first installment of this event began at Erasmus Huis when they screened two movies titled “A Serious Game” from Sweden and “Marathon” from the Netherlands. Two hundred people showed up proving the immense popularity of the annual movie festival. The celebration continued to Institut Francais Indonesia (IFI) last Saturday with the screening of Oscar-nominated movie from Denmark called “Land of Mine”. It was then continued with Marion Cotillard’s movie directed by Guillaume Canet called “Rock N Roll”.
Italy will host the next screening of “Road to Europe On Screen 2019” with the screening of “Brothers” who won the Best Direction category on Amanda Awards (Norwegian national film awards). Paolo Sorrentino’s cinematic masterpiece called “The Great Beauty” will be screened as well on 22 March 2019. The series will be closed on March 29nd, 2019 with the screening of Spanish movie “My Big Night” and German movie “Toni Erdman” which are both categorized as comedy flicks. “Road to Europe On Screen 2019” will offer a chance for the visitors to register themselves as EoS’s members.
