Mitski “Be The Cowboy” Tour Visits Jakarta Next Year!
The indie rock darling Mitski will embark on a world tour starting from next year and she eyes Asia as one of her destinations. The New York-based musician has released her critically album “Be The Cowboy”, so it’s highly understandable that a tour is long awaited by her fans everywhere in the world. Even she just got a huge recognition after releasing “Be The Cowboy”, her career started with an album called “Puberty 2” that also earned her Album of The Year in 2016 by Rolling Stone, TIME, Pitchfork, New York Times, and other publications. Her coming to Jakarta will be brought by Noisewhore, a music collective that has managed to bring Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Snail Mail, Homeshake, among many others this year. Mitski will kick off the Noisewhore Live edition in 2019. Mitski whose real name is Mitski Miyawaki will perform on February 20th, 2019 at Rossi Musik Fatmawati. Besides Jakarta, she is scheduled to perform in Tokyo, Osaka, Seoul, Taipei, Kuala Lumpur, and Singapore.
Moreover about her 14-track album, “Be The Cowboy”, Mitski introduces a persona or rather a fictional character to symbolize this record. “It’s not like it just pours out,” she says about her songwriting, “it’s not like I’m a vessel. For this new record, I experimented in narrative and fiction,” she said. For her first ever performance in the archipelago, Mitski will be joined by another female musician, Monica Hapsari. For those who aren’t familiar with this name, she is more renowned to be a part of Pandai Besi or Voyagers of Icarie. Through this chance, she will introduce you to her solo career which includes tearjerking composition and songwriting.
