The Darkest Minds Review FilmReview: “The Darkest Minds” Presents Another Superheroes Prodigy

Brought to you by 20th Century Fox, another superhero movie which stars teen and children prodigy called “The Darkest Minds” is released today on 15 August 2018. The movie was adapted from the best selling novel series of the same name written by Alexandra Bracken. It tells about a strange virus which plagues United States. It attacks children and teens, which makes them either dead or possess an extraordinary power. The disease which is called Idiopathic Adolescent Acute Neurodegeneration (IAAN) also strikes the son of US’ president Clancy Gray (Patrick Gibson). Those who aren’t dead and in return receive a superpower are divided into 5 categories based on their abilities. Green is for those who have super intelligence, blue is for those who have telekinetic abilities, yellow is for those who have electrokinetic power, orange is for those who could do mind control while red is for those who have pyrokinetic power. These kids who are known to have the aforementioned abilities are quarantined by the government, so their power will not harm the society. Sadly those who are categorized as red or orange must be killed, due to their dangerous power.

Ruby Daly (Amandla Stenberg)

“The Darkest Minds” follows the story of Ruby Daly (Amandla Stenberg) who is categorized as orange in her effort to escape from the government’s quarantine. Assisted by Cate (Mandy Moore), a member of the resistant movement, Ruby managed to run for a while. On her way, she meets Liam Stewart (Harris Dickinson) who is a blue, Chubs (Skylan Brooks) who is a green and Zu (Miya Cech) who is a yellow. Together they aim to escape to a place called Safe Haven where these special children could live freely. “The Darkest Minds” shows an exciting plotline, and it is very suitable for a family’s movie. The main premise actually will remind you of previous superheroes movies, so in a sense, it will get boring if you only wait for their abilities to be shown. However, the plot got thicken when the adults (government) are pitched against these kids. Love, friendship, as well as action are some of the elements you can find here. The movie is closed with an open ending since it will be developed into a trilogy just like the novel. Albeit showing a cliffhanger, you could predict some of the alternate endings which could happen to Ruby and co. “The Darkest Minds” are now showing in theaters across Indonesia. The Darkest Minds Review Film
