
Alita: Battle Angel Preview Shows a Promising Start – More Films from 20th Century Fox are Coming in 2018!
JAKARTA (8/2) – 20th Century Fox will hit its busiest year yet with the release of some movies in the following months. During a preview session which was held on August 2nd, 2018, we saw some trailers of the studio’s upcoming films and some of them blew our minds. First up, there is James Cameron’s latest sci-fi movie called “Alita: Battle Angel” which is starred by Rosa Salazar, Christoph Waltz. and Keean Johnson. The movie is set in a dystopian future when humankind lives alongside robots. Alita (Rosa Salazar) is an old abandoned cyborg before she is awakened and taken care of by Ido (Christoph Waltz). She possesses an extraordinary feature that makes her being sought after some bad people. This movie is set to be released in December. Other than that, “Bohemian Rhapsody” which tells the life of late Queen’s singer, Freddie Mercury, is also one of our favorite. Starring Mr. Robot’s star, Rami Malek who portrays Freddie, “Bohemian Rhapsody” is predicted to be an award-winning movie.
Another flick which will be released at the nearest date is “The Darkest Mind”, directed by Jennifer Yuh Nelson. This film is a superhero movie that centers around a teen who has an ability which is deemed as a threat by the government. This movie is going to be released in two weeks from now, which is on August 15th, 2018. “The Predator” which is a continuation from “Alien vs. Predator” franchise is going to return in September. Now, the universe’s most lethal hunters are stronger, smarter and deadlier than ever before, having genetically upgraded themselves with DNA from other species. When a young boy accidentally triggers their return to Earth, only a ragtag crew of ex-soldiers and a disgruntled science teacher can prevent the end of the human race. Bringing together an A-list cast like Jeff Bridges, Chris Hemsworth, Cynthia Erivo, Jon Hamm, and Dakota Johnson, “Bad Times at The El Royale” is about an adventure of 7 strangers who each had a dark past.
Steve McQueen’s latest directorial effort will be called “Widows”. Written by McQueen and acclaimed thriller author, Gillian Flynn (Gone Girl), the film is a modern-day thriller set against the backdrop of crime, passion, and corruption. “Widows” is the story of four women with nothing in common except a debt left behind by their dead husbands’ criminal activities. It stars Viola Davis, Elizabeth Debicki, Michelle Rodriguez, Cynthia Erivo and slated to be out in December. 20th Century Fox will round up its 2018 release with “The Hate U Give”. Starring Amandla Stenberg, Regina Hall, Russel Hornsby, Issa Rae, and Common, the film presents a perspective of police brutality in the eyes of a teenage black girl.
