Mamma Mia Here We Go Again ReviewReview: Mamma Mia Here We Go Again Makes Us Giddy in Joy!

The first installment of “Mamma Mia!” which was released ten years ago and it was magical. We first saw the adventure of Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) who was on a quest to find out about his biological father when she was about to tie the knot. In the current times on “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again”, Sophie was pregnant with her first child but found it difficult to go through it alone without her mother, Donna (Meryl Streep) who passed away a year earlier. She still lived on the Greek Island and run the villa with her husband, Sky (Dominic Cooper). She has faced troubled times with her relationship with Sky and doubted whether she could make it through her pregnancy without her mother’s guidance. Donna’s longtime friends, Tanya and Rossi visited Sophie to give her some support as well as reminding her that Donna experienced the exact same thing when she was young. The movie then showcased some flashback scenes on Donna’s younger self when she met her three lovers who could be Sophie’s father, raised a daughter alone, and run a successful villa on her own.

Mamma Mia Here We Go Again Review
Young Tanya, Rossi and Donna

Mamma Mia Here We Go Again ReviewThe plot goes back and forth in this movie without a distinctive pattern or change of cinematography. At times, it was difficult to differentiate the time’s stamp especially the young Donna who was played by Lily James looks similar to Amanda Seyfried. In the end, after some confusions going on, you will be adjusted to the back and forth pace. There were fewer songs from ABBA sung in this movie, but the impact is just as marvelous. As an ABBA fan, you would find yourself sing along or cheer to the dances performed by the cast.  Joy and happiness are not the only ‘it’ factor that was sold by this movie, the sad and moving story also becomes the factor that makes us hooked with the storyline. Even though Meryl Streep didn’t make a huge appearance in this movie, her brief encounter with her daughter is one of the most tearjerking scene ever. Cher who was deemed as Sophie’s grandmother finally agree to join the cast and make a grand arrival with her own style. Overall, the cast, the songs, the choreography are beautifully put and executed. From start to finish, we truly enjoy the experience of watching “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again”. It’s a must watch although you haven’t watched the first movie! It will hit theaters across Indonesia on Friday, July 20th….

P.S. : Colin Firth and Pierce Brosnan’s good looks are worth drooling over, and they are the true old but gold.
