Settle Profess Emotions through Single “Chapter 5: Distance”
“Unpleasant Feeling” EP marks Settle‘s venture to indie music scene with their four emo/alternative tracks in it. This year, the band hailing from Bali return with a brand new single called “Chapter 5”. The concept of unveiling new chapter little by little has been going on since they first emerged in early 2016. On the debut EP, we got to see “Chapter 2″, “Chapter 7”, “Chapter 3”, and “Chapter 6”. The new single completes the concept of their big picture they want to pursue. This time, Settle also wants to introduce their new member Agung Pranata who replaced Dedi Firmansyah on guitar. Together with other four members, Indra Purnama (vocal), Yudi Septyan (bass), Eka Cipta (guitar), and Gungde Yudistira (drum), Settle continue their journey. Seeing that the chapters which are put out are random, we will get other chapters a.k.a songs gradually whether in the form of single or maybe an EP later on. Their concept is like reading a book, but in an audio format and jumbled order.
The song still talks about anxiety and relationship between the male lead and a woman named Ileana, which can be found on “Chapter 2”. This time, distance becomes the topic of the song and how proximity becomes one of the reason for the couple’s discord. Distance in this song also becomes a motivation to resist fear and worry and one should struggle to overcome it. The song features guitar strum that feels heavy and full, while in return, has a simple melodies to boost. Settle switch between vocals to skramz that makes this song suitable to profess an emotion. It was recorded at Rockness Studio with the help of Teguh Narakusuma in the mixing and mastering department. The song can be enjoyed in its digital format through Settle’s Bandcamp account.
