Jazz Buzz Salihara 2017 Returns With Jazz Sans Frontiéres 02
As an annual opening program, Jazz Buzz Salihara returns in 2017 with more promising line up from renowned local jazz musicians. This program aims to introduce the latest jazz development with a series of concerts that offer various explorative jazz composition which is brilliant, innovative and fresh. Jazz Buzz Salihara 2017 displays a new format of jazz performance that is rarely found on another platform. This year we see a recurring theme for Jazz Buzz with Jazz Sans Frontiéres 02. Komunitas Salihara invite a number of jazz musician from the latest generation. With their contemporary arrangement and interpretation of jazz music, these musicians put out numerous astonishing creation. We are thrilled to be able to witness them perform in person, and so should you.
The series of concerts have started since yesterday, 11 February 2017 and will happen on every weekend of February. It started with the first act which was Andre Dinuth. He is a solo guitarist and also a member of a band named Six String along with Dewa Budjana, Tohpati, Eross, Baim and Baron. He has accompanied notable musician in Indonesia for example Glenn Fredly, Sandhy Sandhoro and Erwin Gutawa. During his performance he brought out his band, Andre Dinuth Group and performed a fusion of jazz rock and progressive rock which mesmerized the audience. Today, the series will be followed with the performance of Indra Perkasa, a bass player, composer and producer. His background education in University of California, Los Angeles majoring in film scoring made him learn from few of the best composers on earth like Robert Drasnin, Richard Marvin and Craig Stuart Garfinkle. He has debuted as a music arranger for movie “Tabula Rasa” in 2014.
On 18 – 19 February 2017, there will be performances from two jazz groups which are Attilion and Cinconotas. Attilion are a post-rock band which combine jazz progressive and psychedelic into their tunes. Bowo C. (guitar), Mattheus (bass) and Josh (drum) formed the band back in 2006 and have produced two albums so far. Composition from It Must Be (2011) and Early Dawn (2015) will be performed upon the audience who watch their show during Jazz Buzz Salihara 2017. The next day, Cinconotas, a jazz vocal group will take the stage of Jazz Sans Frontiéres 02. The group are made up of Elfa Tahmila (soprano), Sherine Farani Bahar (mezzo soprano), Puspita Wardhani Adjie (alto), Arif Dharma (tenor), Yanuareza Darmawan (bas, baritone). They often perform with Elfa’s singers prior to their creation in 2014 and they will entice you with their beautiful harmonization on the concert.
The last series of concert which will occur on 25 – 26 February 2017 will have Arief Winanda & Pamuncak Mudo and Imanissimo as the performers. Arief Winanda will be accompanied by the music from Pamuncak Mudo and in this very special occasion, he will bring out songs inspired from the art of dance. Imanissimo will close out this year’s series of Jazz Buzz Salihara 2017 with their psychedelic rock infused with experimental jazz and instrumental music. Iman Ismar as the founder of this band formed the group with his mates from Institut Kesenian Jakarta in 2001. They have four albums under their discography and this year they are promoting their latest album called “ENIGMA”.
