Bandung’s Emotive Act, Aillis, Reveal Debut EP “Believe 114”
Midwest emo/skramz unit from Bandung, Aillis, finally reveal their long awaited debut EP titled “Believe 114”. The album has been released in both digital and physical format. It is released in 31 January 2017, after unveiling their second single off the album called “A Lot of Sins”. The single was released first in early January and we have shared our thoughts about it. Physically, the album is released in cassette tapes format via Benalu Records, a record label based in Bandung. They also said that a limited copies of CD will be available to purchase during February 2017. The CD of “Belive 114” will come exclusively with a liner notes from Alfan Rahadi, the so-called emo God from Malang. He describes the record as a spiritual experience as he found some of Aillis’ songs in this album have rather religious and sufistic approach on their lyrics.
“Believe 114” mini album contains five tracks that span about 20 minutes and all of them are the newest materials from Aillis. Twinkling guitar sound is still one of the component that could be found on Aillis’ record, they also cite Algernon Cadwallader as one of their influence in this album. Having had a rather complex music instrumental performed in a simple way, Aillis’ lyrics display anxiety, honesty, and also spirituality that goes around in life. For you who love other Midwest emo acts like American Football, Tiny Moving Part or Suis La Lune, then “Believe 114” might be right up to your alley. Feel free to follow Aillis or Benalu Records‘ social media to place your order of “Believe 114” physical releases or you can stream it via Bandcamp. Akhyar Bagaskara (vocal), Fikri Suryatama (bass & guitar), and Haris Surya (drum) would be more than happy to have you buy their merchandise as well, since this EP is a DIY funded.
