The Prequel Web Series of “Filosofi Kopi” Has Begun Shooting
Are you a fan of 2015 hit movie, “Filosofi Kopi“? Apparently something special is currently undergoing for the movie franchise. Starting from December 23rd 2016, the casts and crew of “Filosofi Kopi” has started shooting its prequel story for a web series. The original movie was based on a short fiction by Dewi Lestari that tells a story of Ben, a son of coffee farmer who wants to pursue his passion for coffee. Together with his best friend, Jody, they establish a coffee shop which goes almost bankrupt because of the unpaid debt. Facing this dire situation, Ben accepts a challenge from an entrepreneur to create the best coffee formula that will guarantee him to win a billion rupiahs prize money. His talent in brewing coffee has successfully made him win the money that will save Ben & Jody’s coffee shop. But then, El shows up and tells Ben that there is a better coffee than what he has created. Intrigued by this statement, Ben and Jody went on a journey to find “tiwus” coffee that is said to be the best coffee. To sum it up, the movie chronicles one’s passion and determination towards something he really loves and his value of friendship.
The web series focus more on the story of the two lead characters, Ben (Chicco Jerikho) and Jody (Rio Dewanto) before and during the establishment of their coffee shop. Directed by Angga Dwimas Sasongko, the prequel is geared up towards Filosofi Kopi’s sequel that is planned to start production in early 2017. Chicco unveils, “I, Rio, and Angga really like the story of Filosofi Kopi. Until today, there are still many people that want to find out about the narrative of Ben & Jody. As a result, we make the prequel of Filosofi Kopi in the form of web series which will tell the beginning of Filosofi Kopi.” The initial shooting of the web series took place at the real “Filosofi Kopi” coffee shop that is located at Melawai, Jakarta. Meanwhile, the sequel of Filosofi Kopi will be titled “Ben & Jody” and once again will be directed by Angga Dwimas Sasongko, produced by Anggia Kharisma, Handoko Hendroyono, Rio Dewanto and Chicco Jerikho. Fans of the movie and the novel should see the prequel as well as the sequel to have a complete Filosofi Kopi experience!
