EDM Newcomer Ciko Collaborates with KC JONES on Debut Track “RAGE”
Jakarta-based label Pon Your Tone is home for renown musicians like Dipha Barus, Jidho, Matter Mos, Monica Karina and more. The latest addition to the stellar line-up is a DJ/producer from Jakarta named Ciko. He has just debuted with a track called “RAGE” in which he took MC/rapper KC JONES on board with his years of experience as a club MC.
Blending heavy EDM vibes with bold dubstep energy, the track leans into classic dubstep-style bass drops. Ciko shared that his inspiration partly comes from his roots in post-hardcore and death metal, two genres he says have a similar arrangement structure to the EDM he’s exploring now. You can definitely hear that influence in “RAGE.”
“I chose to collaborate with KC JONES because his voice fits perfectly with UK sound/bass-type tracks, and the whole recording process went super smooth,” Ciko explained. KC JONES, who is of Dutch-Indonesian descent and already well-known in the club scene, felt immediately drawn to the sound Ciko sent him. It didn’t take long before he started writing lyrics that really captured the raw, underground feel of the track.
“The lyrics I wrote are about struggle, anger, and staying true to yourself. The words reflect that heavy beat, channeling the wild side of the scene and refusing to follow the mainstream. The track really reminds me of ‘90s UK electronic music and takes me back to the early days of my career as an MC,” KC JONES added.
Even though Ciko is just breaking into the scene, KC JONES—who’s worked with international names like Alvaro (NL) and Watermät (FR)—had no hesitation jumping into this project. He actually finished the lyrics in just one day, laying them over Ciko’s beat with ease. This epic team-up is being seen as a solid first step in launching Ciko’s journey across the electronic music stage.
Ciko is also open to seeing “RAGE” remixed or reworked by other DJs and producers in the future. “I’d be stoked if ‘RAGE’ gets a remix or rework by another DJ or producer,” said the Jakarta-based DJ. On top of that, he hinted at the possibility of performing the high-energy track live with KC JONES if the right opportunity comes along.
