Vira Talisa Brings Bossanova Vibes on “Down In Vieux Cannes”
Soloist Vira Talisa truly embodies French pop in her musical career as it is evident on her latest single called “Down In Vieux Cannes”. The single which roughly translates to ‘at the old city of Cannes’, becomes the second single from her upcoming album. Gaining much attention and success after dropping her debut single “Walking Back Home” which was followed by a self-titled EP, “Down In Vieux Cannes” sees Vira Talisa craft her sound around Bossanova’s rhythm. Her delicate vocal suits the light ambiance from the instrumentals. You can hear the lyrics sung in two languages, English and French since she had lived in France for four years to finish her study. Listening to “Down In Vieux Cannes” could make you feel you’re strolling down a French street completed with Parisienne outfit. The backing vocals and joyful melodies helped this single to become more wholesome. If her older songs and EP reminds you of Carla Bruni, Kate Nash or She & Him, then this new song takes a more melodious, cheerful jazzy approach that will remind you with the likes of Mocca, K-Indie singer Morrie, or Japanese singer, Sheena Ringo.
The 25-year old singer revealed a little bit anecdote behind this single. It appears that this song resulted from a sad day when she still lived in France. Completing her study after four years, Vira felt hesitant to return to Indonesia since there were so many memories there. While walking down the street in Cannes when she was vacationing, she met a street artist who reassured her that she should not fear any pain with his song. Then, she was inspired to write this song and poured out her feelings in the lyrics. She used French in order to pay respect to that particular street singer that she met back then. The single is currently available on its lyrics video format and will be released digitally on October 4th, 2018. Her first single in Indonesian “Janji Wibawa” is already available on digital streaming services. Take a look at the cute animation for “Down In Vieux Cannes” below.
