Ryan Egan Presents Alluring Psychedelia through “Won’t You Be The One?”
His name might not ring a bell to you yet, but Ryan Egan‘s music is worth listening to. The singer/producer/multi-instrumentalist based in NYC will release a brand new single tomorrow called “Won’t You Be The One?” and we got the chance to hear it first. The two minutes and 52-second track witnesses Egan’s craft in mixing various influences in his music. A blend of soul, psychedelic, R&B as well as ambient present on this seemingly too-short of a song. The track begins with a steady drumbeat and eclectic guitar pick that ushers us into Egan’s lovely low register. The sultry vibe gets even stronger towards the chorus where we could hear his falsetto on the hook of “won’t you be the one…”. Through an email correspondence with the singer, Ryan Egan explains that this song is about allowing oneself to fully trust someone after being hurt or betrayed. “I often find myself with the dilemma of whether or not to write about these types of experiences or lyrical themes, especially within the current global political climate, it feels trivial to write love songs. I’m sure I’m not alone in this inner artistic dialogue but in the end, same as with musical style and performance, you need to just allow things to come naturally and be honest,” said Egan on a lengthy explanation. He also cited Radiohead and Prince as the muses for this song. “Won’t You Be The One?” will be available to be streamed worldwide on September 28th, 2018.
