Welcoming The New Festival in the Country, Hodgepodge Superfest 2018!
JAKARTA – Celebrating the 73rd anniversary of Indonesia’s independence, so much development is happening in this country including in its entertainment industry. Becoming one of Indonesia’s soft diplomacy, the concerts or festivals that are held here manage to attract lots of visitors from abroad and acts as an effective promotion tool. One of the newest international scale festivals is called Hodgepodge Superfest 2018. Presented by the organizer behind Java Jazz Festival, Java Festival Production in collaboration with SuperMusic.id, the festival will be held from September 1st to 2nd, 2018. Allianz Ecopark Ancol is chosen as the venue of this two-day attraction that present various artists from Indonesia as well as abroad. From Indonesia’s finest selection, there will be The SIGIT, The Brandals, Tomorrow People Ensemble x Eka Annash, Rendy Pandugo, Endah N Rhesa Extended, Soundwave, Onar, The Trees & The Wild, Barefood, 70sOC, and SoftAnimal. Ranging from rock, alternative, pop, folk and many more as its genre becomes the main selling point of this festival. A special collaboration from jazz ensemble, Tomorrow People Ensemble will feature Eka Annash, who is known as the vocalist of rock band, THE BRNDLS.
While the foreign musicians that will perform at Hodgepodge Superfest are All Time Low, August Alsina, Day Wave, Didirri, Cloud Nothings, Extended, The Libertines, Gallant, Lil Yachty, Lemaitre, Sundara Karma, Swim Deep, Jess Connelly, Kid Francescoli, Park Hotel, Tayla Parx, The Hunna, and Vancouver Sleep Clinic. Seeing these names coming from various genres and background, there was a curator team who work hard to accommodate the preference of today’s youth. Nikita Dompas, the guitarist slash musician is included in the program team of Java Festival Production. Through a press conference, he explained that the principal for Hodgepodge is becoming a platform for up and coming musicians. “We curate it first, we’re searching from various platforms. From Youtube, Spotify, SoundCloud, we listen to the candidates one by one. So the concept for this festival is discovery,” explained Nikita Dompas. He added that to live up to the festival’s name which means fusion, the team choose various genres for this occasion.
