JAKARTA (7/20)Albert Hammond Jr. finally performed in Indonesia yesterday on the first day of We The Fest 2018. Shortly after Maghrib break, the musician who had just released an album called “Francis Trouble” greeted the crowd on stage. He brought out his band to stage and kicked off his set with “DvsL”. He kept his high spirit right until the end of his set. During his performance, he conveyed his happiness to be able to perform in Indonesia for the first time ever as a solo act. Using his “Francis Trouble” album artwork as a background, he also didn’t forget to promote his album to the new fans who might only know him as a guitarist from The Strokes. He also gave a brief explanation about his album and hinted that the figure depicted on the album artwork belongs to his stillborn twin. On previous interview we did with the curly haired soloist, he said that this album is a more personal approach towards his music after learning about the fact of his twin who died in his mother’s womb.

Albert Hammond We The Fest 2018The 39-year-old musician sported a white t-shirt, which seems to be an homage to English rock band T-Rex. His powerful performance got more exciting when he decided to come down the stage and utilized We The Fest’s alley to interact with the fans at a close distance. Seeing the crowd jumping and dancing to his songs gave him more energy to perform. He also belted out some of high notes effortlessly. On some songs he played his guitar, while on the others he sang while swinging the mic just like what he did on “Faraway Truths” music video. Albert Hammond Jr.’s set was then closed with his lead single from his album called “Muted Beatings”. The lively ambience that he kept all the way through the end made us realize that he is more than a capable soloist, but also an excellent live performer. His performance was one of the greatest showmanship we saw on the first day of We The Fest 2018! Listen to his album “Francis Trouble” on digital streaming platforms.
