The Video for “Muzza Swell” from The Mentawais Will Sway You
Bogor is a rainy city, but rain doesn’t stop The Mentawais to feel like they belong in a sunny place. Bringing surf rock tunes, the band have just released their latest music video for “The Muzza Swell”. The song is taken from their upcoming full lenght album which will be released in 2018. The song brings a cheerful ambience filled with reverb and a frequent use of vibrato arm. It resulted in a summery vibe sound, hazy kind of feeling and an urge to go straight to the beach. It is said that this instrumental surf band take clues from the early era of surf. They are highly influenced by The Astronauts, The Surfaris or The Vultures. As the whole summer vibe isn’t enough, the music video only adds more to it. Created by Reganx BK, The Mentawais took their surf genre to the literal level. You will be treated with a beautiful imagery of the vast ocean, with its raging waves. It is then completed with some surfing action from professional surfers. It’s like a video you usually find inside a surf wear store, but with a better matching tunes this time.
If you think that the surfing scenes were taken in Bali or Lombok, then you might reconsider a whole new trip to West Java. The video was shot at Batu Karas, Pangandaran which is one of the popular surfing destination along West Java’s coastline. Before releaseing “The Muzza Swell”, The Mentawais have launched their debut mini album back in April 2017. Titled “Surfin’ Java”, the mini album has received a warm welcome from the listeners and further encouraged the band to finish a full lenght album. Their upcoming album will contain 12 tracks in total. In the mean time let’s get swayed with “The Muzza Swell” music video below.
