JAKARTA (02/28) – Jakarta International BNI Java Jazz Festival 2018 will roll out its series of events starting from tomorrow, 2 March until 4 March 2018. Being held once again at JIExpo Kemayoran, the 14th edition of the festival organized by Java Festival Production has a theme which is “Celebrate Jazz In Diversity”. During a press conference held at Hotel Borobudur at the end of February, the representatives from the festival and sponsors mentioned several new projects and programs that the audience will experience on JJF 2018. Presenting a whopping 11 stages in an outdoor and indoor area, this year’s Java Jazz use ‘vintage’ as its main theme for decoration. Peter F. Gontha as the President Director of the festival explained, “The audience will be welcomed with art installations and oddly shaped buildings in a music festival. There will be exhibition as well as food and beverages area that will accompany you to enjoy the performances of these musicians. We created this festival as a platform for anyone from any age despite their backgrounds, whoever that enjoys music or simply presents to only enjoy the food.”
The surprises that the organizers and performers have prepared are as follows. There will be several collaborations happening during Java Jazz Festival 2018, including a duet from Indonesian musicians from Java Jazz All Stars (Tompi, Petra Sihombing, Dira Sugandi, and Rega Dauna) and Incognito. Trio Lestari will also collaborate with the drummer of Andra and The Backbone on stage. For you who love Indonesia’s 80’s era, there will be collaboration from the legendary Candra Darusman with Monita Tahalea, Teddy Adhitya, Chaseiro, Adikara Fardy, Nina Tamam and Karimata Trio. There are some more collaborations and joint stages that are as exciting as these aforementioned ones. For you who wonder why artists like Goo Goo Dolls or Lauv are invited to this jazz festival, the organizers explain that these two still bear the similar jazz DNA on their music. As jazz music itself has evolved in the past years, jazz has become borderless and becomes a genre that could unite people. Elek Yo Band for the first time will perform on stage. For you who don’t know, this band is comprised of Indonesia’s ministers. They will collaborate on stage with Endah N Rhesa and perform songs from Slank and Anji.
