POND Will Have Their Last Show for “The Weather” Asia Tour in Jakarta Tonight!

(11/25) Finally, the day that we have been waiting for has arrived and today will be POND‘s first ever show in Jakarta. The psychedelic outfit hailing from Perth, Australia attended a press conference last night prior to their performance at The Pallas, SCBD tonight. On behalf of Sonic Live Asia, Chief of Programme and A&R Ryan Novianto explains that POND will become their first ever concert before many more musicians scheduled to come to Jakarta next year. “We might be new promoter in town, but we consist of old faces and those who have lots of experience. We plan to promote ‘music tourism’ in Indonesia, so the audience doesn’t have to go to Singapore to see their favorite acts,” he said. POND became the first artist for their pilot program, Sonic Live cited their connection with Tame Impala’s management made it easier for them to arrange the concert. “Previously, we’ve been in contact with Tame Impala’s management since we used to be the promoter that brought them here last year. After hearing that POND is holding an Asia tour for their album “The Weather”, we decided to bring them here as well,” they added.

Different from Tame Impala’s show in 2016 which was held in an outdoor area that could hold more than 4,000 spectators, POND’s show in Jakarta will be held indoor with smaller capacity. It was the promoter’s idea to bring a more interesting and intimate concept for this kind of music show. .Feast the rock band who will open for POND also came to the press conference citing their excitement and preparation for their set. “We plan to play our new song, as well as bring out a collaborator. For certain, it won’t be too long since it’s POND’s concert after all,” said the members of .Feast jokingly. All the members of POND were also in attendance last night bringing all smiles and laughter with their Aussie’s slang and jokes. Shiny Joe Ryan was lively and welcoming to the point he asked a journalist to touch his signature curly hair after she asked him a specific treatment he did to maintain his gorgeous hair. Two years after their last album, each member of POND have been busy touring especially those who are also in Tame Impala.

“The Weather can be said as our simplest title yet. On previous records, we always came up with bizarre name combination for our album before the recordings. Somehow we did not have any name for it until after the record was done, so it’s yeah…pretty simple,” said Nick Allbrook explaining the differences between their new album and old ones. As their Asian tour has come to an end, they have visited Malaysia, Japan, Taiwan, Hongkong and lastly Indonesia. For their concert, they spilled that their setlist are half “The Weather” and half their old songs. They could not wait to meet all of their Indonesian fans today and let’s all paint Jakarta silver! Their tickets still can be bought on the spot later tonight.
