Popcon Asia 2017 Held in Jakarta Returned with A Bang!
Starting from 5 to 6 August 2017, Hall B of Jakarta Convention Center was filled with pop culture enthusiasts to attend Popcon Asia 2017. As the biggest international scale pop culture festival in Indonesia, Popcon returned with the theme “POP PARADE”. It brought the finest works from creative workers in Indonesia, starting from animation, comics, toys, films with thick Indonesian flavor in it. The most awaited and much anticipated programs during Popcon Asia 2017 was the attendance of Power Ranger players. This year, Popcon invited several stars who played the roles in Power Rangers series such as Yoshi Sudarso who played as Blue Rangers on Power Rangers Dino Charge, Peter Sudarso who played as Blue Ranger on Power Rangers Ninja Steel and Walter Jones who played as Black Ranger on Power Rangers Mighty Morphin. Other than that, the audience was also asked to go down a memory lane with the original star of Gavan, Kenji Ohba. He still remembered the transformation movement that Gavan always does before turning into metal suited robot.
From our own country, there was a character contest from “Wiro Sableng 212”, a movie adaptation from the legendary superhero comic. The production team with the casts also spilled about the movie which is slated to be released in 2018. Various booths also offer a look at Indonesian visual artist who sell their artwork, merchandise, and miscellaneous things. Games booths were also available and could be accessed by anyone who were willing to play. Popcon Asia 2017 offered a pop culture fiesta without forgetting Indonesia as its roots. The first day which happened on Saturday was the peak of the event with people swarming up the place since early afternoon.
