Celebrate Indonesia’s Independence Day with The 9th Jazz Gunung Bromo in 2017!
Jazz Gunung Bromo returns with its 9th edition this year and just like the previous successful events, it once again takes place in the splendid landscape of Mount Bromo. On the height of 2.000 meter above the sea level, Jazz Gunung offers you one of a kind sensation of enjoying jazz concert. This year’s theme has the tagline “Merdekanya Jazz Meneguhnya Indonesia” and will be held in two days after Indonesia’s Independence Days on 18 – 19 August 2017. Butet as the organizer of the event, thought that this year’s installment has the perfect theme to coincide with the independence day. “We just want to remind people about a culture of Indonesia that we all dream of, culture is a practice,” said Butet during a press conference of Jazz Gunung Bromo, held at Galeri Indonesia Kaya on 20 July 2017. The line up for the two-day event has been announced and feature a selection of prominent jazz musicians from Indonesia and beyond. Maliq & D’essentials are going to grace the stage of Jazz Gunung Bromo for the first time in this 9th edition.
Taking place at Amfiteater Terbuka at Jiwa Jawa Resort Bromo of Desa Wonotoro, Probolinggo, East Java, the stage has the most perfect spot with beautiful natural mountainous background which will make your experience in enjoying jazz music better. This event is not only dedicated for jazz enthusiasts, it also welcomes various attendees including nature lovers and music enthusiasts in general. On the first day, the line up includes Dewa Budjana Zentuary, Surabaya All Star, SonoSeni Ensemble, Monita Tahalea, Paul McCandless, with Charged Particles(Amerika Serikat) and Maliq & D’Essentials. While on the last day, there will be SonoSeni Ensemble, Indra Lesmana Keytar Trio, Ring of Fire Project bersama Idang Rasjidi, Sri Hanuraga Trio feat. Dira Sugandi and Glenn Fredly. Javanese traditional singer and all-around-entertainer, Soimah will present a special performance for this year’s Jazz Gunung. If usually the show begins at 4PM, this year you might want to come earlier as the show will start at 3PM in the afternoon.
