Collective Shoes Share Energetic New EP “Brain Conflicts”
On July 1st where most of us were still deep into the holiday mood, punk rock unit from Tangerang, Collective Shoes revealed their EP called “Brain Conflicts” on a host of digital streaming services. Adyt, Sani, Dimas and Iam decided to release their mini album on that day to coincide with The World’s Joke Day (but they guarantee that they are indeed very erious in making music). Containing five songs that have previously been released as singles and new ones, “Brain Conflicts” is the fruition of these guys’ hard work. The album has the philosophy of conflicts that each of the member has been facing all these years which challenge them to handle it like a gentleman. As an escape, music is their only way to pour all the bottled up feelings inside them and even though they said they are still ugly and miserable now, hey at least you got songs to listen to. The album is filled with punk rock tunes and tells about slices of life, like falling in love, broken hearted, having a crush, and feeling like crap, all wrapped in the spirit of energetic punk rock a la Collective Shoes.
“I Couldn’t Afford To Buy You A Chocolate (So I Just Wrote You a Song)” becomes the opening number of the album and it has been released previously earlier on February during Valentine’s Day celebration. It is a fast paced punk song that might reminds you with the likes of Blink-182 or Green Day. It also has an instrumental track called “Subhuman Trash” which lasts about 1 minute and 11 seconds. Our favorite is the acoustic guitar driven song “Constant Heartache” that shows these punksters’ vulnerable side. The closing track called “Verbal Assault” has a special appearance from Australian hardcore band’s vocalist, Jerrod Waltzinger from Snakepit.
