Pop Punk Collective, Saturday Night Karaoke Are Reportedly Breaking Up and Reveal The Last Music Video for “Bam Bam Bam”
A sad news emerged during our long holiday of Eid Al-Fitr, it was no other than the news of Bandung’s pop punk collective, Saturday Night Karaoke, who announced their split up through social media. On their official statement, the three of them decided to stop their band project after a long talk between them and felt the same way about the band. They did not state an explicit reason behind their break up, or mentioning particular motives to end their long journey from 2008. This marks the second time they decided to split after previously did the same back in 2012. After their brief split back then, Saturday Night Karaoke still appeared on some small gigs without officially announcing their reunion. This time, we do not know what the future holds, it might be temporary but it could also be forever. Before finally wrapping up the project, Saturday Night Karaoke have some scheduled gigs waiting upon them on August. The last three shows include opening stints for Japanese band, Felix! The Band who hold a mini tour in Bandung. As a farewell gift for the fans and listeners of their music, they will put every music on their Bandcamp for free and they also reveal the last music video for single “Bam Bam Bam”.
Directed by Adythia Utama a.k.a Disasterhead, a musician and filmmaker who is also a friend to the band, the music video shows the back shot of a girl who walks around a city in Japan to catch the performance of Saturday Night Karaoke on an underground gig. It also shows footage from the band’s tour in Japan last March in several cities there. “Bam Bam Bam” is a cheerful pop punk single which is a contrary from the sad news of their split. They already have few albums that you can check out on their Bandcamp and Rizkan Records’ Bandcamp. Let’s savor the moment before they really put away their guitars, bass, and drums in a store room by watching the video of “Bam Bam Bam” below. See you again when we see you, good luck for each of your journey in the future!
