Rumah Opa Kitchen & Lounge Unleash Rice Bowl Variations on Their Menu

Rumah Opa Kitchen & Lounge once again reveal other menu items during the month of Ramadhan and it includes a series of rice bowl menu. After introducing us to some Indonesian and Chinese inspired cuisine that they serve during the holy month, the lounge which is located at Jl. Welirang No.41 A Malang, share rice bowl menu with variations you probably never heard before. If the usual rice bowl consists of chicken cutlet curry, blackpepper beef, or sweet and sour chicken, then the cooks at Rumah Opa have different creations in mind. There are 4 rice bowl variations in total and they are called Periywhan Rice Bowl, Pina Seta Rice Bowl, Pollo Caramel Rice Bowl and Mexican Beef Rice Bowl. First up there is Periywhan Rice Bowl which serves beef as its main protein. A bowl of warm rice is topped with stir fried beef with mixed veggies like sweet corn, lettuce, red lettuce, and bell peppers. It is a balanced meal and contains both meats and veggies so you don’t have to worry about your nutrients intake. For the taste, there could be more sauce in it and for those who like a fresher palate, then a wheel of lemon is also served on the side.

The second dish called Pina Seta Rice Bowl offers mushroom as the main protein. On top of rice, stir fried mushroom is served with fried diced potato, steamed broccoli and a sunny side up egg. There is a combination between sweet, sour, and spicy on this dish because they use the addition of pineapple and chili to saute the mushroom. The runny egg yolk completes the whole dish and help to add another protein source to the food. The third one is Pollo Caramel Rice Bowl and in Spanish, Pollo means chicken. Yup, Rumah Opa serve chicken fillet drenched in caramel sauce on top of rice. It is then accompanied with steamed broccoli and boiled egg. It is sweet, but still maintain the savoriness from the chicken and onion. The last but not least is Mexican Beef Rice Bowl which has caught our attention since the first sight. The plating for this dish is pretty interesting as you can see the smoked beef is rolled and placed carefully on top of the rice. In the middle of the smoked beef is mozzarella cheese, so this dish should be devoured while it is still hot. It is served with french fries and sunny side up egg and extra sauce which you can pour onto the dish. Overall, the taste of the rice bowls are unlike the ordinary ones, but it is filling and might be an option if you are bored with the same dishes for iftar.
