Popcon Asia Receives “Editor’s Choice Awards 2017” from Rolling Stone Indonesia
Popcon Asia has just received an award in Pop Culture Sensation category during “Editor’s Choice Awards 2017” held by renown magazine outlet, Rolling Stone Indonesia. The award was given to Popcon Asia’s representative, Grace Kusnadi on 24 May 2017 on Rolling Stone Indonesia XII Anniversary that was held at Rolling Stone Café, Cilandak, South Jakarta. Editor’s Choice Awards is an annual award that is given to figures, work, and social activity that were most prominent and highly influential in the past year, according to the magazine. Besides Popcon Asia, there are other 9 figures who received the appreciation like singer Yura Yunita, comedian Ernest Prakasa, alternative rock band Scaller, singer Danilla Riyadi, DJ Dipha Barus and others. Based on the explanation from Rolling Stone Indonesia, Popcon Asia is the biggest event that raises “Pop Culture” topic in Indonesia. Popcon has been consistently establishing a platform for geek creators to display their work to the mass up to their 6th edition this year.
Besides becoming pop culture celebration, this year Popcon Asia also aims to raise public awareness toward Indonesia’s creative talents who own high quality works that are no less excellent than those that belong to foreign artists. “I hope that our youth’s works starting from comic, film, until music could be more exposed to the abroad,” said Grace Kusnadi during her speech while receiving the award. Popcon Asia returns in 2017 for its 6th edition from 5 – 6 August 2017 at Hall B, Jakarta Convention Center. Bringing “Pop Parade” as its theme, Popcon Asia boasts stellar guests line-up that they call Popstar. There are local and international Popstars including Gamelawan x Gafarock, Yoshi Sudarso, Peter Sudarso, Chris Cantada, Ayano Fujisawa, Tooru Fujisawa, Aimee de Jongh and Yuma Ishigaki. The event will be attended by more than 300 exhibitors (artist alley) and many surprises that the committee have prepared for the audience to enjoy.
