Alternative Rock Unit, Glaskaca Go Bold with Their New Single “Preclear”
Glaskaca have wrapped up their promotion of successful debut EP called “Staedig” and now have moved onto another work called “Preclear”. During their joint showcase with Makmur Sejahtera held at Toko Misteri Blok M, Jakarta titled “Binary Showcase” a while ago, the band debuted the live stage for this single. Albeit nerve-wracking, they managed to perform “Preclear” upon enthusiastic crowd. On the lead single from previous album “Staedig” we can see Glaskaca serve their charm in a rather subtle and melancholic tone. Their way of playing music reminds us a lot of Radiohead’s album “A Moon Shaped Pool”. However in “Preclear”, they want to be bolder and find their own color and we think they deliver. Dias Widjajanto (vocals, guitar), Moses P. Mahitala (guitar, programming), Rayhan Noor (guitar, synth, keyboard), Aldi Nugroho (drums) and Fahmi Darussalam (bass) gives a synth heavy tunes from the beginning and it continues throughout the song.
The lyrics pronunciation got better this time around and although they try to escape from the sound of another band, it is inevitable that we are reminded of Mew while listening to “Preclear”. Nonetheless, the single still got us hooked and the listeners seem to like it as well since it got positive feedback. Stella Gareth from Scaller lent her talent to create an artwork for this single. She interprets the meaning and tunes of “Preclear” into a green dominated abstract and layered artwork. This single has been available to be streamed and downloaded on its digital format through Youtube, Spotify, Apple Music, Bandcamp, Deezer and iTunes. This single might be a step towards Glaskaca’s upcoming full length album, or maybe an EP? Stay tuned to their social media for the alternative rock band’s newest updates.
