Report: Unnes Festival Night (UNFEST) 2.0 Was Successfully Held
State University of Semarang or known as UNNES has held its Unnes Night Festival (UNFEST) for the second time this year. From Thursday to Friday, on 27 – 28 April 2017 at Lapangan Prof. Dumadi, UNFEST 2.0 carried the theme of “Manus X Machina : When Ethnisc Meet Technology”. It fused two different elements which are ethnic element and technology into one festival. There were art collaborations, dance performances, live music with decorations and many exciting things for the visitors to enjoy. To commemorate the 52nd anniversary of the university, UNFEST 2.o tried to become a platform for creative industry workers. Two concepts were displayed during the two day festival with Intergrated Expo held on the first day and Music and Ethnics Concert held on the last day. An inspiring talkshow with Hari Djoko Santoso, Gatot Hendraputra and Henry Casandra Gultom was held to give a better understanding about music development in the country. It also became a sharing session and experience based discussion coming from the workers in the aforementioned field.
Artists, communities, food and beverage vendors as well as local brands were present on UNFEST 2.0. There was also a special theatrical performance from a collaboration between three performers which were Teatrikal Lab. Usmar Ismail, Kolaborasi Tari Tiga Budaya and Hallo Mapping. The event reached its climax with music performances from folk band Payung Teduh, oldies band NAIF and DJ Lady Ann. These three performers depicted the overall theme of the festival which combined technology and traditional elements. No wonder that more than 6,500 people attended the festival to feel the different and unique experience that they offered. They proclaimed that it was a one of a kind event that ever happened in Semarang. Next edition of the festival should be merrier and bigger than this one!
