Bekasi Celebrates Record Store Day 2017 Celebration with Record Market and Live Performances
Record Store Day celebration is not only held in the capital city of Jakarta, there is also an event going on to commemorate the physical records in Bekasi. Bekasi as one of the place where great indie bands hail like Barefood or The Trees and The Wild has its ups and downs in indie music scene. After it went through a hiatus in 2010, the past year has seen some interesting development in its creative indie scene. Routine gigs are held, and venue for live music performances appeared here and there. The community of independent music in Bekasi has begun to built a strong connection between them, so we could see a lot of collaboration project or event. One of the venue or place the musicians used to held gigs was at Studio Dromotora. Now it has gone through a re-branding and changed its identity to Castel Distric.
Castel Distric is one of a historical place for indie scene which is located at Jl. Bulak Kapal Bekasi beside the immigration office. Not only becoming a meeting spot for musicians from Greater Jakarta Area, it also hosts the activities of indie musicians lately. The spirit to enliven the indie movement has prompted the committee to officially join Record Store Day 2017. There are booths, merchandises, zine exhibition, talkshow, as well as exclusive releases happening on RSD 2017 in Bekasi. Those exclusive releases come from Blistered Merch, Greg Mike and Kim, Castel Distric, Ruang Hijau Media, Indiewave, Ripstore.Asia & Radio M2E. It will be held on Sunday, 23 March 2017 from 3PM onwards. There are 9 bands scheduled to perform which are Street Warriors, Rany Enjoy, Mr. Sungkono, Freedom Street, Humanimal, The Flowchart, Kakarot, Laika ID and D.P.O.X. Other than that another RSD event will also be held at Kedubes Bekasi, Jatiasih with Nick as its main line up.
