Shaggydog Will Repress “Putra Nusantara” on Vinyl for Record Store Day 2017
“Putra Nusantara” (2016) is the latest album from the ska unit from Yogyakarta, Shaggydog. To commemorate Record Store Day 2017, the band will repress their album on 12 inch vinyl. The CD version as well as the vinyl of the aforementioned album has Agan Harahap in charge of the artwork design. In a very smart and savvy business strategy, the CD also has been bundled with the purchase of bakpia, a special snack originated from Yogyakarta. It reminds us of the CD bundling that is also done by a fast food chain in Indonesia. Doggies, as Shaggydog’s fans called themselves, hunt the CDs right away. The sixth album from the band that is fronted by Heruwa was mastered at Abbey Road Studio in London by Andy Walter (Coldplay, U2, The Cure, David Bowie, Radiohead). There will be some differences from the CD version, as the vinyl will only contain 11 tracks.
One track called “Kamu Di Hatiku” and a hidden track that can be found on the CD have to be diminished to make the album shorter. The vinyl is produced by a vinyl pressing plant in USA called Palomino Records. There will be only 100 copies of the vinyl which you can pre-order during Record Store Day 2017 celebration on 22 April 2017. For a period of time starting on 22 – 30 April 2017 the vinyl will cost you IDR275,000. Afterwards, starting from 1 May 2017 the cost will be IDR300,000 excluding packing and shipping cost to those who reside outside of Yogyakarta. Pre-order deliveries will be made on 5 May 2017 and you can place your order through Doggy Shop or their website www.albumputranusantara.com by clicking the vinyl icon on the available format. If you happen to live in Yogyakarta, you could get special price if you purchase it during RSD 2017 that will be held at Rumah Budaya Prof. Soeroso (Angkringan Sari Dele), Jl. Sidobali no. 10B, Muja Muju, Yogyakarta. The vinyl will only cost IDR250,000 and other releases from DoggyHouse Records will be discounted up to 50% with free merchandise for minimum purchase of IDR50,000.
Other than the vinyl release, Shaggydog will also reveal their music video for “Rock Da Mic” for the first time. The video is directed by Boris The Moris and co-directed by Heruwa, it is then edited by Djati Wowok Pambudi. The video was shot during their last year’s trip to USA for a gig at South By South West (SXSW). Later on, the music video for “Rock Da Mic” will be uploaded onto their Youtube channel.
