Heals Release Debut Album “Spectrum” and Embark on A Tour Across Java and Bali
Heals, one of the promising shoegaze act in Indonesia have finally revealed their debut album “Spectrum” on 9 April 2017. The band from Bandung released the album under FFWD Records after previously launching a single called “Wave” in a form of cassette tape a year ago. Alyuadi Febryansyah (Vocal, Guitar), Reza Arinal (Vocal, Guitar), Muhammad Ramdhan (Guitar), Octavia Variana (Vocal, Bass) and Adi Reza (Drum) went through a relatively long and arduous creative process and production to make this album comes true. Through a press release, it was unveiled that the members had to spend some nights together in order to milk the creative juice out of their brains. It resulted in some new materials that were born during the process and also spontaneous songs that come out during the recording session. “Spectrum” contains 10 tracks that show different appeals from Heals.
“Monolove” with its dreamy vocal and layered distortion and catchy melody grabbed our attention right away and encouraged us to continue listening to the rest of the album. Heals admit that they are heavily influenced by bands like My Bloody Valentine, My Vitriol, and Cocteau Twins, but that does not mean that their music is the exact carbon copy of the aforementioned musicians. Heals keep their own characteristics and charms within “Spectrum” which tells about human’s fantasy of life according to Heals’ perspectives. Our favorite from the album are “Lunar” which must be majestic track to be performed live, “Dazed” a short but well-executed and catchy number, and “False Alarm” a song about human who gets pressured by his own thoughts. Heals also express their relief after launching this album and they also embark on a tour across Java and Bali to promote “Spectrum”.
Starting on yesterday 13 April 2017, Heals have visited Yogyakarta on a gig called “Join The Club Vol.1” held by Handsome Devil’s Club. Afterwards, up to first of May 2017, the shoegaze band will make their tour stop in 7 cities which are Cirebon, Semarang, Solo, Malang, Surabaya, and Denpasar.
