Introducing Rock Unit from Malang, Journey Johny with Their New Single “Pretty Girl”
Journey Johny are a relatively new rock band from Malang’s indie music scene which have just released a new single called “Pretty Girl” on their Soundcloud account. The band was formed in 2013 and have gone through multiple member changes until they are now made up of Sony (additional vocalist), Mufty (guitaris), Bacthy (bassist), and Gery (drummer). “Pretty Girl” is their second single which was unveiled in February. Beforehand, the band have debuted their first single called “Deeper Voice from Little Citizen” earlier this year. These men make garage rock as their main influence in terms of music, so it is clearly heard in both of their songs. “Pretty Girl” tells about a sexy and beautiful lady that makes the men fantasize about her. The song was written at the end of 2016 while thinking about maturing process for Journey Johny as men and as a band.
Journey Johny plan to include both singles, “Deeper Voice from Little Citizen” and “Pretty Girl” in their upcoming EP. The extended playlist is now on the work and it is planned to be revealed within this year. “Pretty Girl” is an uptempo number that sees the band utilize vocal a la Mick Jagger with falsetto and high pitched notes. It’s a little bit shaky at some parts but they keep rockin’ it. The band also used to participate in IKABAMA UMM’s events and have performed in several live gigs.
