Pandai Besi gave a sweet surprise as they announced that they were going to reveal a new single called “Rintik” a while ago. It is something new from the band as they previously only do a different music arrangements for Efek Rumah Kaca’s songs. The original piece was revealed on 3 March 2017 on several digital streaming services and it showcases different charm of Pandai Besi than what we usually got. Akbar Sudibyo, the drummer of Pandai Besi and Efek Rumah Kaca as well, stated that they went through a difficult time while making their original song. If usually they have an existing material from Efek Rumah Kaca, now they did it from scratch and it became a new challenge for everyone in the band. The process made them realize that they felt like a new band again. The song is written by Pandai Besi’s bassist Poppie Airil and he revealed that initially he did not plan this song to be a material for Pandai Besi. Another difference we got in “Rintik” is the vocalist position no longer belongs to Cholil Mahmud only. As the man now have gone to the United States, Poppie Airil, Monica Hapsari and Nastasha Abigail fill in the vocals part and the three of them bring harmony to the song.

Pandai Besi Rintik Video“Rintik” itself has been cooked up for a while from 2016 and it is unveiled a year later. As for the visual for the single, Panda Besi collaborate with Ruth Marbun to do the single’s artwork and Tumpal Tampubolon to work on the music video. On 13 March 2017, the music video for “Rintik” has been uploaded onto their Youtube channel. It starts with a man who works as an ‘odong-odong’ driver finding a USB flash drive on the road and as he plugs it into the audio tape, “Rintik” music begins playing. The members of Pandai Besi follow him around as he takes his cab to do his job. They sing and dance around the odong-odong and even ride their own vehicle. “Rintik” has rhythmical melodies which has a unique progressive throughout the song. The song describes the longing for someone and the needs to reconcile with them while at the same time also letting go. It sounds cheerful but sad at the same time, a complicated feeling that resides within this song. The single is also available in cassette tape format that has a remixed version inside.
