lightcraft Will Be The Only Representative from Indonesia for SXSW 2017
Back in January, it was announced that three acts from Indonesia, KimoKal, The Trees and The Wild and lightcraft were shortlisted to perform at SXSW 2017 (South by South West). Later we found out that in March, only lightcraft has been officially announced as the only representative from Indonesia to perform at the festival which combines music, film, and interactive media. Being held at the first time at Austin in 1987, the festival has been an important destination for professionals around the world to seek the latest trend in film, art exhibitions, and form networks. Many notable upcoming musicians made their breakthroughs through this platform and the chance that lightcraft has now has been preceded by the likes of Shaggy Dog, White Shoes & The Couples Company and The S.I.G.I.T. This year’s celebration will host 600 bands and musicians in the city of Austin, Texas. SXSW 2017 will run from 10 to 19 March 2017 and lightcraft is scheduled to be on stage on Friday, 17 March 2017 at Palm Door on Sabine.
“This is a very pleasant surprise for us to be able to perform at SXSW 2017. It is truly an unimaginable honor. We knew about our involvement in SXSW 2017 while we’re on the way home from our tour in Canada last November and until now we’re still processing the information in our heads. For a band from Indonesia like lightcraft, to perform with those established names from around the world in a renown festival like is a scenario that only happens in our dreams. We really can not wait any longer. We hope to make our country, family, and our friends proud, and also showcase our capability as a band. SXSW 2017 will be a historical moment for us and hopefully we could share this happiness with all of you,” says lightcraft’s guitarist, Fari. Their departure to SXSW has also been supported by Bekraf as the government body which hosts the country’s creative industry. This will add to a long list of foreign gigs done by lightcraft, after previously they were involved in Indie Week Canada 2016, Dong Taidu Music Festival 2017 in Malaysia and many more.
