Rotan dan Kayu MelelahkanRotan & Kayu Unveil a Somber New Single “Melelahkan”

Chamber-bossa unit from Malang, Rotan & Kayu have unveiled  a new single called “Melelahkan” on 14 February 2017. The second single takes a different route from their debut single “Waktu Itu”. “Melelahkan” has a mellow and somber tunes and after knowing the meaning behind it, it gets even sadder. The track talks about an experience of being left by our loved ones one after another. Reza, the male vocalist of Rotan & Kayu opens the track with the first verse and then continued with Mustika’s vocal on chorus and both of them take turns to sing throughout the song. Other members, Indra (bass), Raditya (gitar), and Faruq (drum) also take part in singing the backing vocals mimicking people who leave us behind. In this song, Reza represents the main actor and the rest of the band become his closest friends who drift apart from him and it is indeed a tiresome phase of life.

Another difference other than the theme of the song, is the music which has zero bossa element. However, Rotan & Kayu still want to keep the ambient and chamber nuance in this song, proven by Raditya’s unique take on the guitar. The lyrics of this song once again were written by the duet of Reza and Rotan & Kayu’s manager, Lutfi Naufali. The process of writing the lyrics alone took a month, and we could agree that these two guys seem to be in sorrow while writing this.  Later on, it was recorded at Virtuoso Music Studio in Malang and mixed and mastered by Bie Paksi from Wake Up! Iris. The band who have just celebrated their 2nd anniversary has also uploaded this single on Spotify and it can be purchased on iTunes through Spires Publisher’s account.
