Closure Single Slow DriveClosure Bring Back the Post-Punk Vibe and Give Promising Debut Single “Slow Drive”

Fond of Motorama, Protomartyr or Ceremony, and maybe a little flair of Joy Division? Then Closure was born to fulfill your post-punk needs. Closure is a mash-up of members from different bands with different genres, however it is post punk that unites them and gives a solid reason to release a single called “Slow Drive” which will be included in an EP called “Journey”. Afif Amrullah (guitar), Axel (bass), Dheka (vocal, keyboard), Bella (guitar) and Biting (drum) are known as active members of Shewn, Blasting God, Wrist Off, Thunderwrahts, and Coming Back respectively. Starting from their habit to hang out in the same coffee shop, Armor, in Malang, they wanted to form a band that brings back the third wave of post punk after the golden era of Interpol. Afif and Biting have long been dreaming of making such music project, until in 2016 the final team was realized.

As reported, Closure have recorded four to five songs to be included in their forthcoming EP. Ahead of that, they have released a single called “Slow Drive” through their Bandcamp account. “Slow Drive” has a one string rhythm guitar which was enveloped with Dheka’s baritone voice. Upon listening to the single more, you could not help but notice the considerable influence of Motorama here and there. While still looking for their music characteristic, we think that Closure are not bad for a first starter. With more experiment and maybe a little suggestion, Closure should be able to step over the huge shadow of their predecessors and influences. They also have played their first ever live show yesterday during Renjana #6 at Kalampoki Quayhouse. During the event, they handed out a demo CD filled with their recorded songs. If you did not have the chance to cop the CD, you could listen to “Slow Drive” below and tell us about your thoughts on the comment section below.
