Chinese New Year is just around the corner, the festive annual celebration this year would be merrier if you have time to dine with your family and relatives at Horison Ultima Malang Hotel. The hotel that is located at Araya will serve Cantonese style buffet dining for January 27th and 28th 2017. The dining will take place at Malabar Restaurant and Executive Chef Tri Iswandono has prepared more than 12 menu items for “Chinese New Year Dinner Year of Roaster 2586”. “The food that is served during Chinese New Year is full of symbolism and meanings behind it. So, each menu that we offer at dinner will follow the tradition from China. We choose to serve Cantonese style buffet which has distinctive taste and aroma that will enhance the appetite,” explained Chef Dono.

The CNY culinary experience at Horison Ultima Malang will start with several appetizers which are mooncake, salad, and dimsum. Wonton Soup becomes the must have menu item that should be served during Chinese New Year. The philosophy behind Wonton Soup was explained by Ratna Wina, the marketing communication of Horison Ultima Malang during a press conference. She said that the shape of Wonton symbolizes the shape of golden coin that is used in Chinese dynasty era. It becomes the symbol of wealth and prosperity. Meanwhile, for the main course, Chef Dono has prepared a whole fried fish with sour and spicy sauce. I Fu Mie is also obliged to be served during Chinese New Year, as he said that the noodle symbolizes longevity of our lives.

We have tried several dishes from their Chinese New Year menu and we must say that it will not disappoint you. The wonton skin is thin enough but still managed to retain the filling inside, it is best to be consumed while it’s still piping hot. Whereas the fried fish becomes our favorite from their menu with its crispy yet moist fish and sour and spicy red sauce. The Chinese New Year dinner package is sold per pax for IDR150,000 with the system of all you can eat buffet.
