ROBBRS Presents “Amber”, The Perfect Soundtrack For Someone Who Likes to Play Victim
ROBBRS are a pop alternative band based in Yogyakarta. You might know them for their participation in Lalala Fest or Konser 1000 Band. Yup, the quintet that are comprised of Lintang Larasati (vocal), Farigh Dewanto (bass), Hisar Sinambela (guitar), Awan Hastanto (guitar), and Maher Sasuka (drum) might be new, but their achievements so far, are worth appreciated. “Spell You Do” is their first single that was released back on June 2016. On January 11th 2017, the band unveil their second single titled “Amber”. On “Amber”, ROBBRS showcase their enigmatic charm on playing catchy pop arrangement with such deep and thoughtful lyrical context. The song is composed by ROBBRS, with the lyrics written by Lintang. The song itself has this melodic lullaby kind of instrument that become the core part of the music.
Upon first listen, you might think that “Amber” talks about a particular girl who scares people around her. Actually, the song is much deeper than that, as Lintang gives two different perspective of the fictional character. On one side, “Amber” is the portrayal of someone who always seek out the negative traits in people, she tries to tear them apart and make them feel inferior. While she is characterized as someone who spreads fear, Lintang wants to show that it’s not about her, instead how you respond to her behavior will define who you are. While on the other hand, “Amber” describes someone who likes to play the victim card and choose to surrender under negative circumstances. The character has a complex attitude in which she feels the world is to blame and she’s always be the one to suffer. With two point of views, the listeners might be drown in confusion but fret not, the band said that we are given much freedom to interpret the single into our own perspectives.
The single is available to be streamed freely via ROBBRS’ Soundcloud, YouTube, and Bandcamp, as well as on Spotify, iTunes, Deezer, and Apple Music. Wish them luck as well for they are now on the process of recording their mini album that will be released later this year.
