Good Morning Breakfast Present New Music Video “Selfish”
In May 2016, the band hailing from Cirebon, Good Morning Breakfast released their debut EP called “A Story of James and Nina” on cassette tapes with mixtape format via Sundaypop Records. One of the lead single is “Selfish” that now has its own visual which came out in early 2017. The video was taken during their gig in Bandung at an event called “An Intimacy”, a regular micro-gig event that was held back in April 2016. It shows their preparation for the set until showtime, the video has a little time-lapse thing going on. POV Project Bandung recorded their performance as well as helped them to put the video together until it is like what we see right now.
“A Story of James and Nina” itself is a mini album that resembles 90’s style mixtape. If usually mixtape in the 90’s is a cassette tape filled with several songs from various acts, Good Morning Breakfast’s mini album put their own songs in it but they were mixed and mastered by various recording studios. The result was the different feels and quality in each song, and somehow make them stand out beside each other. The single “Selfish” was written by Palpov (vocal) and Ismet Hafiz Alim (bass), with the music arrangement co-created with the rest members which are Rizkidz (guitar), Bambang Adithya (guitar), Raden Rully Purnomo (synthesizer) and Lovely Inna (drums). The song tells about the idea of a self-centered person who thinks that the world revolves around him. He refuses to care about his surroundings and the people around him. His bad demeanor and selfishness would someday hinder him to achieve his dream. The song itself is an easy listening indie-pop number with catchy guitar riff.
The launching of a visual for “Selfish” is also taken as an opportunity to bid goodbye to their guitarist, Rizkidz who decided to leave the band since October 2016. The video is a bittersweet parting gift that is dedicated to Good Morning Breakfast’s ex member. Since then, Good Morning Breakfast have decided to still continue their music career with the remaining members. In the meantime, there is no exact plans about the band’s future endeavor in 2017 but we hope the best of luck for them. Watch the video for Good Morning Breakfast single “Selfish” below.
