Jakarta Coffee Week 2016: More Than a Cup of Coffee
Seeing Indonesia as one of the biggest exporter of coffee and witnessing the rise of coffee industries in several cities, ABCD School Coffee with HYPE held Jakarta Coffee Week from October 15th to 16th at Pandai Indah Kapuk. The event on Saturday commenced with a little workshop from Bank DBS Indonesia in order to help the coffee micro businesses develop and have stable financial report. With admittance ticket for ten thousand rupiahs, the visitors could enjoy tens and even hundreds coffee related booths.
Without further ado, we experienced the event itself in all its hype and we could not get more excited to learn about coffee straight from the experts. The exhibition area of HYPE Land at Pantai Indah Kapuk, was divided into two areas. One area was dedicated purely for coffee related stuffs starting from the provider of coffee beans to café owners, coffee machinery and all the supporting miscellaneous stuffs that are needed in coffee making or coffee shop industry. The other area was a place for Food and Beverages tenants. In total, there were 50 coffee shop booths, 80 latte artists, 60 coffee experts.
Upon entering the exhibition area, the place was filled with coffee enthusiasts, coffee shop entrepreneurs and coffee experts. All of these elements created a unique market where they exchange information about coffee, do coffee trades, and enjoy a cup of coffee. The coffee shops offered cupping experience where they brew several coffee beans from different origins and explained its differences to the customers. They also sell their own roasted coffee beans with a beautifully designed package. Jakarta Coffee Week also gave a chance for barista and coffee shop owners to educate the visitors about coffee like its roasting, brewing process, and the right way to enjoy a cup of coffee. Moreover, Jacoweek spotlighted supporting industries for coffee shop like café interior, barista’s aprons, coffee mats, coffee machine manufacturer and many more.
There is also a main stage in the middle of exhibition area where all the main event, like the latte competition is held. Overall, the event went well during our visit on Saturday and Jakarta Coffee Week has managed to bridge the gap between all the elements who are involved in coffee related industry into one astounding event.
