KANELOP 2016: Mellonsfolly Feast
Bringing up the farm theme inspired by a farm ville in New Zealand named Mellonsfolly, miXth event organizer tried to emulate it into their culinary event, Kanelop. We had a chance to stop by the occasion that was held at Lapangan Parkir Stadion Gajayana Malang. The decoration wasn’t as festive as we expected it to be. It was just a simple long table covered in gingham checkered tablecloth, flags, and some pretty little lamps with some photo booth that resembled old barn.
But wait until you see the food tenants inside. There were lots of choices from Indonesian, Japanese, Chinese, Western and fusion food that range from snacks to main courses. We were confused to choose which dishes to devour first, but at last we tried the Malaysian satay, burger, waffle, chicken satay and watered them down with milk tea, juice, and soda. Overall they were good and the sellers were very nice to the visitors.
Other than the food itself, another notable turns of the event were the eating contests and music performances. It was fun seeing some people trying to finish the spicy noodles by Fire Bowl or did the burger estafet (relay) race from Burger MaGr. To accompany the night while the visitors were enjoying the vibe, there were performances from Hankestra and many more artists.
A little drizzle of rain did not stop the flow of the visitors who came to fill their hungry tummies. Kanelop had succeed to bring the foodies out of their caves and even though the overall theme of farm or Mellonsfolly did not translate to the real event, we still enjoyed the feast and of course the food! We hope to see it again with more consistency and quality in Kanelop’s next event.
