Review: Sicario The Day of Soldado Forced Us to Follow a Weird Plot
The first installment of “Sicario” was perfect in various senses, down from the cast, plot, and its whole package. So we initially thought that a sequel wasn’t necessary, but, Hollywood execs seem to love sequels even if it is forced. “Sicario: The Day of Soldado” was released in June 2018 which featured previous cast like Benicio Del Toro & Josh Brolin as well as the same scriptwriter, Taylor Sheridan. This time, Alejandro Gillick (Benicio Del Toro) & Matt Graver (Josh Brolin) have to deal with human trafficking and must find a way to capture the perpetrators and stop the cycle. Matt asked Alejandro to be a part of his team, even though his role on the first movie was a hitman who specialized in targeting cartels. Alejandro agreed to join to revenge his family who were murdered by human trafficking mafia. Up to this point, the plot seemed so forced and Sheridan could not create a convincing back story behind Alejandro and Matt’s reunion.
